MoS₂-Filled PTFE Bush — why this filler for this component

Molybdenum disulphide is specified for a bush where the chemistry must stay close to unfilled PTFE but the running surface needs to be harder and slipperier than virgin material. Because MoS₂ is used at around 5%, the compound behaves chemically much like plain PTFE while gaining a tougher bearing face.

Where it does not belong

Compression moulded from around 5% molybdenum disulphide compound, sintered, then machined to your drawing. Filled compounds need higher compaction pressure than unfilled PTFE to reach full density through the section.
