How it behaves here

Carbon raises compressive strength so the bore holds its dimension under load, and conducts frictional heat out of the contact. It also makes the bush electrically conductive, which matters wherever static charge must not build on a rotating shaft — a real consideration in solvent handling and powder plant.

Where it does not belong

Carbon is attacked by strong oxidising media, and the compound is no longer as chemically inert as unfilled PTFE. It is also darker and will mark light-coloured product, so it is a poor choice in food or cosmetic contact.

Compression moulded from 25% carbon compound, sintered, then machined to your drawing. Filled compounds need higher compaction pressure than unfilled PTFE to reach full density through the wall.
